The village of Lindenhurst is located in Northern Lake County, IL and is located 42 miles from the Chicago loop minutes from I-94 expressway and was incorporated in 1957. The 4.44 square miles of land area include small lakes and parks and is located between Route 45 and 83 and is north of Rollins Road and south of Illinois Route 173. The village was named after Ernst E. Lehmann farm, known as Lindenhurst. The name Lindenhurst came from the two rows of linden trees outlining the original Lehmann farmhouse.
The population is over 14,000 and boasts a variety of forest preserves that offer a wide variety of walking and bike trails. Forest preserves include McDonald Woods, Duck Farm, Bonner Heritage Farm and Hastings Lake. The Village of Lindenhurst has a motto, “Developing Today for Tomorrow” which expresses an attitude for planned positive growth for businesses and a quiet family environment.
The community hosts Lindenfest each year with carnival rides, a parade, games, bingo, food, live entertainment, Battle of the Bands, and the Mayor’s Auction and a pageant.
